I left Steambost Springs this morning as it was wrapped in winter's embrace. -23ºF with fog and ice rime on the trees. 131/2 hours later I arrived in the Phoenix area where it was 81 degrees warmer. Quite the contrast! Like most first days this was one of orientation and getting in the mindset. What do truckers see as they move along the way in their solitary lives. I think today's shot of the day from Utah Hwy 128 outside Moab represents well the openness that truckers feel in the Mountain West. Whether you see emptiness, beauty or just the lure of the open road depends on you. After 795 miles it was a very full first day. Our ending milage was 544997. Till tomorrow from the desert...
