Grand Mesa
This byway winds its way up and over Grand Mesa on Colorado 65 from exit 49 on I-70 to Cedaredge, above the Gunnison River Valley. It climbs from hot desert up through juniper and piņon pine woodlands, into foothill forests of ponderosa pine and Douglas fir, and then into forests of lodgepole pine, spruce, and fir dotted with lakes and meadows before dropping back down through the sequence from forest to desert again.
